About Me
Hello! I'm Ruben. I'm an Oxford English graduate with an MA in Film and Screen Studies from the University of Exeter. I offer specialised tuition in GCSE English Language and Literature, A-Level English Literature and GCSE/A-Level Film Studies, as well as preparation for university admission.I believe that students learn most effectively when complex ideas are broken down into clear, manageable steps before being brought back together. My lessons combine close reading, structured explanation, review of previous learning and guided practice. This helps students not only to memorise relevant information, but confidently apply their independent understanding of texts in exams. Above all, it makes the learning process far more enjoyable for all!I produce teaser analysis videos on GCSE and A-Level texts, including Macbeth (c. 1606) and A Christmas Carol (1843). I create two versions: one designed to help students build confidence and secure a pass, and another exploring ideas in greater depth for those aiming for the highest grades. This reflects my belief that teaching should be adapted to each student's needs and goals. I encourage parents and students to watch these videos before booking a free lesson!
